Sorry for the delay; just getting back to work and my schedule is messed up. In response, good question! I know what I mean by family values; my core beliefs that shape the relationships with members of my biological family. I am aware that there are many types of families and as many values as there are philosphies. As a Chrisian, I would hope to dwell on those beliefs that build up and strengthen my family in their life and work ( what Christ was able to do that no one else has done), not on those that build up self and demean others (what anyone can do). The only example that comes to mind at the moment is children. I happen to view them as a precious gift-something given to me by God to care for; not something that is an addendum to my life or an addition to my resume; not as a burden or obligation. My belief will cause me to respond and behave differently toward my child than someone who does not believe a child be be a precious gift from God.
